Naturopathic medicine focuses on patient history, while using physical exams, lab work, and other diagnostic techniques to determine the right course of treatment to restore and maintain your health. Naturopathic medicine is well suited to diagnose and treat almost any non-emergent health concern.
An initial appointment with a Naturopath is 1-1.5 hours in length, and likely very different from the appointments you may be used to with your family doctor. The session includes a thorough review of your medical history including any lab test results you’ve received from other physicians, your current health concerns and symptoms, as well as your dietary and lifestyle habits, medications and supplements.
At the end of the visit, the goal is to have a thorough understanding of your past experiences, your current state of health, and your goals for achieving optimal health moving forward.
During this appointment, the naturopath may recommend further lab testing to obtain clear results that will help inform your treatment needs. The naturopath will design a plan that best suits your needs and goals, which may include diet, supplement and lifestyle recommendations.
