Description
Zonulin is a protein found in intestinal cells and is responsible for controlling the tight junctions of the intestinal lining. It is a quantitative measurement of a key bio marker in determining increased intestinal permeability, often called “Leaky Gut.”
Leaky Gut’ is when the intestinal lining becomes abnormally permeable, allowing bacteria, food and other large molecules to pass through which can give rise to food sensitivities as well as many other clinical symptoms.
Gut inflammation can trigger an array of symptoms such as but not limited to digestive issues, weight gain, depression, headaches, dizziness, itchy skin, and cognitive problems etc.
Gut inflammation can be caused by various factors such as yeast intolerance, bacterial imbalances, histamine intolerance and leaky gut as well as consuming a diet high in inflammatory foods such as sugar, processed foods, alcohol, and caffeine.
Histamine and Diamine Oxidase are used as bio markers to determine if you have gut inflammation.
