Description
Adrenal Check (Cx4, DS): This test includes assessing your stress cortisol hormones throughout a 24 hour cycle (Cx4) as well as DHEA-S. DHEA-S is made by your adrenal glands and helps to make testosterone needed for libido and muscle growth. They decrease with age and get to the lower end of normal in middle age.
Low DHEA-S can be caused by adrenal exhaustion and is commonly seen in accelerated aging and diseases such as cancer. High DHEA-S is associated with insulin resistance/PCOS (polycystic ovaries) or DHEA supplementation.
